雌雄同體  Masquerade (Male, Female, One Body)

Words and Music by Ashin

7 p.m. looking at myself in the mirror, trying to improve upon parts of my beauty
I shave off my beard, and apply my true self, lavender eye shadow
With my two pink lips I mutter softly to myself

My tie needs to match a Scottish kilt, and set off an ordinary feather boa
The only thing I’m still going back and forth on, undecided, is which perfume to wear, it’ll act as tonight’s underwear
Though to the very end you still don’t see me clearly, Though to the very end you still don’t see me clearly

I want you to see me without debating whether or not you should enjoy me
I want you to fall in love with me without debating whether or not you should love me
I can be male or female, I can shift endlessly between the two,
you can decide how much of each you’d like me to be
As long as you love me, it’s all no problem, as long as you love me, it’s all no problem

Rather than let you understand me, I’d prefer to be a puzzle
A difficult question that cannot be settled, real or fake remains a secret, a game of pulling at your heartstrings
I can imitate you or become your opposite, take part in the sport of love as you’ve only imagined it

Perhaps you avoid me but don’t fear me, perhaps you think of me as taking some usual form
But if you’re really certain, your soul has discovered its own shape and body
And discover you’ve always been male and female in the same body, and discover you’ve always been male and female in the same body
